The Reopening, take two: June 29, 2020

BOOKINGS OPEN ON JUNE 22, WITH CLASSES STARTING ON MONDAY JUNE 29.

'This magnificent refuge is inside you…

shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway…

let nothing perturb you, nothing frighten you.

All things pass.

Close your eyes and follow your breath to the still place

that leads to the invisible path that leads you home’

We are very excited to be able to re-open our Yoga Studio to all of you who wish to re-join personalised classes, although, like everywhere else in the world, things will be a little different for a while.

Yes, this is a delayed re-opening as Jeff and I have taken the opportunity during lockdown to undertake some major renovations to our house, testing our flexibility of mind and body to the max without doing one downward dog!!!   In your absence we’ve also washed all the props, steam cleaned the floors and scrubbed the place from top to bottom.

So here’s what will happen from June 29.

Yoga Classes

  • We are reducing the maximum number of students in each class to 7, which, based on the size of the studio, is in line with govt guidelines for ‘social distancing’.

  • We will maintain a similar schedule to our previous timetable but if there is demand, more classes may be added.

  • All class passes which were suspended on March 23rd will be set to restart. If you wish to delay your restart date please email us.

Bookings Essential

  • Bookings via the website will be essential.

  • Bookings can be scheduled from Monday 22nd June.

  • We know some of you book your classes weeks in advance but as class numbers will be capped, we ask that initially you limit your bookings to a maximum of 3 classes per week.

  • If you would like to organise an ongoing private class or a small group private session, please let us know and we can co-ordinate a suitable time with your chosen teacher. (and I won’t feel too bad if you choose Jeff!)

Your Yoga Space

  • We are committed to delivering yoga classes in a space that promotes the health and well-being of our students.

  • As you can imagine, things will be a little different in the studio as we undertake COVID-19 safe policies. We will be following the guidelines encouraged by the Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia. If you’d like to read what they say you will find it here

  • Please be aware of congregating at the entrance to the studio.  Some students may prefer to leave their shoes in the “Bali Hut” in the garden and please leave non-essential items in your car or at home

Hand Sanitiser

  • We encourage everyone to wash their hands thoroughly before coming to class and require everyone to use the hand sanitiser provided before entering the yoga studio

Mats

  • We understand that not everybody has their own mat but if you do, please bring it to use.

  • If you use a studio mat please clean it with the solution provided both before and after use.

Props

  • Please bring a large towel to cover the blankets and bolsters when using them.

  • Chairs will be cleaned after use with the same solution as the mats.

Stay home if sick!!

  • This goes without saying but we are going to say it anyway;

  • Please do not attend classes if you are suffering from a cold or any flu-like symptoms.

  • Please do not attend classes if you are required to self-isolate or have been exposed to anyone who is required to self-isolate.

Be Kind

  • Not all coughs are the same. Some yoga poses such as Sarvangasana and Setu Bandha may cause you to cough when you release from the pose. Just because the student next to you coughs doesn’t mean you’ll catch anything.

Change is the only constant

  • We are observing the advice of medical officers and government mandates. This will change. We will change as and when this advice changes. Flexibility of mind and body is our mantra.

It’s fine to stay home

  • We all need to make our own choices about if and when we return to normal and we respect whatever choice that may be.

  • If you are more comfortable practicing at home, then that is what will be best for you. We are happy to offer some guidance and happily point you towards our favourite ZOOM teachers.

We truly appreciate the community spirit that is fostered in our studio, so if you are struggling financially or with anxiety or depression please let us know.  Also, any feedback, questions or suggestions you may have will be used as an opportunity for growth and learning.

Looking forward to seeing you all back at Noosa Yoga Centre.

Namaste, Di and Jeff
